The High Court battle between Oxford University and the animal rights protestors over the new bio-medical lab has been set back a week to next Monday, 10 April 2006.

The two were meant to be thrashing it out in the Queen's Bench Division of the High Court (at the Royal Courts of Justice on the Strand) yesterday, over a temporary extension to the injunction against the protestors that put strong restrictions on their movements and actions.

The university wants to retain an injunction against Speak, and others, that limits the allowed protest opposite the lab to 12 people from 50, and prevent them from using loudspeakers and so on. It also provides legal protections against the protestors for a number of other companies associated with Oxford Uni, which the protestors have threatened with action.

The animal rights protestors obviously disagree with the extended injunction.

I couldn't find out anything about the hearing and nothing appeared on any of the related organisations' websites so I called up the lawyers involved, Lawson-Cruttenden, this morning and was told the court has been adjoined and the case will be heard next Monday.

So there you go – just an update.
