I'm impatient with convention, that's my problem.

I also think, seriously, that unless this IGF meeting adapts rapidly and has something to hold up by the end of it, it could be killed off this year or next.

I've been to a few UN conferences. The really great thing about the IGF is that the plenary approach has been dropped: the speeches, the paddles, the answering a question asking an hour ago - and then waiting an hour for the answer.

I should also point out that the WiFi problem caused me to have to run around all day, and produce comparatively little for it. And there were two WorldBank students helping me out who must have been incredibly bored with the constant problems. As a result I also ended up missing chunks to what was being said. It was crazy not to have a decent network at the IGF.

But yes, if I see you Rik - or if you see me - coffee it is

Welcome to the strange and rarified world of UN conferencing. The reality is that this is a completely innovative break from typical UN procedure, despite it appearing annoyingly backward to outsiders.

I understand the tech issues having been mostly resolved with the wifi, which seems fairly robust this morning.

Patience, young grasshopper. Things are progressing, new initiatives are forming (often in the hallways), hegemonies are being challenged, whether it is apparent to outsiders or not.

Find me and I'll buy you a very overpriced coffee. - Rik

Alô Kieren,
I could follow the conference in the afternoon much better from the hotel, through the webcast. Just perfect. No wifi comming down... a confortable and relaxed experience.
Completely agree about the need of 2 moderators.
Thanks for the work.
