It's rare in this day and age to find a journalist with the clout, the panache, and above all the integrity to report on matters as well as this. Good show.

MY COMMENTARY about the arrest of the Greek Rss Feeder website owner:

I really think the arrest was made as an act of drama stating "dont touch me".

If the accuser wanted to arrest somebody, that should have been the blogger who made bad comments about him, not the rss feeder website owner!

But in my opinion, by arresting the referer, in a fascist and prominent move, he says to the rest of greek bloggers "STAY AWAY OR I WILL SEND U THE POLICE IN MIDNIGHT HOURS TO SPEND A MEANINGLESS NIGHT IN PRISON DUNGEONS"

And thus, and by the attitude of Mr.Rousopoulos, we live in Middle Ages of Democracy.

I say this becouse Mr Rousopulos appeared eager to defent Democracy (lol) from...bloggers!!!! looooool

But tell me, how can I protect Democracy from Mr.Rousopoulos governance power?! (and he has a whole police army with him while i only have a black dog)

It is very dangerous (for democracy) to be humorless and repetitive in speech, that i would say to Mr Rousopoulos.

The problem with politicians sometimes is that they are afraid, afraid of being rediculed by the "common people" and blogs, in most cases, are made by "common people".

Lastly, lets supposed i do a blog and accuse Mr Rousopoylos for being gay. Unfortunately i have the feeling that i will be prosecuted down ....Although nobody reads my blogs!! (stats give me 2 persons a day, both are friends that know me)

And if a TV station says that Mr Rousopoulos is gay, based on my blogs, it makes the TV station look stupid and innacurate (saucy yet..).

THE NATURE OF MODERN MEDIA, BEING DIGITAL ,FLUID, FREE (OF CONTROL OF ..ANY KIND), HENCE PRODUCING "LIES" AND "ACCUSATIONS" AGAINST "FAMOUS PEOPLE" IS WHAT WE CAN CALL "ANARCHY"

If we try to make anarchy into demokrasy we will need strict laws and labeling the crowd between "good bloggers " and "baaaad bloggers".

how can i defent the internet from...Mr Rousopoulos white sheep black sheep thinking and rediculous reasoning (TV CHANNELS GETTING INFO FROM BLOGS??? ) Excuse him, he reads too many chineze and american newspapers obviously. In greece only newspapers mentioned blogs, TV doesnt even want to say the word"bloggers" as most viewers are aged and they wouldnt understand what it means. We all know,tv stations try to speak "the language of the viewer", and most viewers are children and grandparents (and poor class youngmen who dont own a computer)

It all sounds a bit like a carry-on movie.

I shudder to think what this lot would be like if they got the job of debating something really really important, like nuclear weapons or global warming...

It was very interesting to see things from the other side. It is especially interesting to note how quickly people make up their minds, and how difficult they are to dissuade once they have done that.

But on the flipside, media criticism is also incredibly useful as it forces attention to be focussed on something that people would chose to ignore otherwise. And quite often the media role is required to keep people honest.

It is all too easy to take the path of least resistance, especially when you have 100 different problems. But that path can often be the wrong one, especially when decisions important to a large number of people are made within a small group.

But the old truism of "if it's a case of conspiracy or cock-up, chose cock-up" held strong.

I don't mind being criticised - I'm more than capable of standing up for myself, and I am also happy to admit when I am wrong. But I find it amazing how *confidently* people state something when they have only the tiniest snippet of information on which to base that view.

As a journalist what you have to do - or what you *should* do - is talk to anyone involved in what you're writing. If they decide not to talk to you, or if they fail to answer questions clearly, then that is their look-out, but to not even ask those questions is, well, sloppy and, on occasion, unprofessional.

This has been reinforced in my mind by seeing it from the other side. So I suppose I've had my own piece of multi-stakeholder learning.

Well, being in the media world you must be used to the fact that anything anyone does is going to be criticised by someone. I guess you aren't used to "being the news" rather than reporting it, not that thats a bad thing!
